Trigel

"Trigel" is a name used for at least two distinct drug formulations. One formulation is a bioactive smart cryogel dressing containing erythropoietin (EPO), isosorbide dinitrate (ISDN), and unfractionated heparin (UFH), developed by Mansoura University for the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers. This cryogel dressing is designed to provide sustained release of its components. The other formulation is an intestinal infusion containing levodopa, carbidopa, and entacapone, designed for patients with advanced Parkinson's disease. This latter formulation aims to improve the pharmacokinetic profile of levodopa by combining it with inhibitors of its peripheral metabolism, thereby potentially lowering the daily levodopa dose needed and providing more continuous delivery to the brain.
