Overview

Trigonelline hydrochloride is a hydrochloride salt of the natural pyridine alkaloid trigonelline, which is found in various plants such as coffee beans and fenugreek. In reproductive biology research, it is investigated for its ability to promote the activation and growth of human primordial follicles in vitro. Studies suggest that supplementation of ovarian tissue culture media with low concentrations of trigonelline hydrochloride can enhance the size and growth potential of secondary follicles, potentially improving outcomes for in vitro maturation (IVM) of oocytes. Beyond reproductive health, trigonelline has been studied for its potential anti-diabetic, neuroprotective, and anti-inflammatory properties, often acting as an osmoprotectant or through the modulation of oxidative stress pathways.
