Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Trilac is a dietary supplement composed of a combination of probiotic bacterial strains, specifically *Lactobacilli*, *Bifidobacteria*, and *Lactococcus bacillus*. It is being investigated as a potential adjunct therapy for inflammatory bowel diseases (IBDs), such as Crohn's disease (CD), by modulating the gut microbiota and altering the intestinal environment. Clinical studies have shown that supplementation with Trilac can lead to improvements in body composition, nutrient intake, and certain aspects of quality of life in patients with Crohn's disease, although its impact on disease symptoms, flares, or hospitalizations may be minimal. Mild adverse effects like nausea and abdominal discomfort have been reported.
