Overview

Trimeperidine (Promedol) is a synthetic opioid analgesic belonging to the phenylpiperidine class. It acts primarily as an agonist at the mu-opioid receptors in the central nervous system, providing potent analgesia for the management of moderate to severe pain. Developed and widely used in Russia and Eastern European countries, it is often administered via injection for post-operative pain, trauma, and obstetric analgesia. Compared to morphine, it is reported to have a shorter duration of action and potentially less effect on the respiratory center and smooth muscle tone, though it carries similar risks of addiction and respiratory depression. Kalceks is a prominent manufacturer of the drug in the Baltic region.
