Overview

Trimo-San is a **vaginal gel containing hydroxyquinoline sulfate (0.025%) and sodium lauryl sulfate (0.01%)** formulated to maintain or restore normal acidic vaginal pH and reduce odor-causing bacteria. Its main indications are to coat the vaginal wall with a lubricating film, help maintain vaginal acidity, and suppress the growth of odor-causing bacteria. Trimo-San is particularly indicated for women using vaginal pessaries to support pelvic organs, as pessaries are considered foreign bodies and disrupt vaginal ecology, but it can also be used in other situations requiring management of vaginal pH and odor. It is **not FDA approved**, is available only as a brand-name product, and is not staining to skin or fabric. **The gel is applied intravaginally using a dedicated applicator.** The mechanism is primarily physical/chemical (acidification and surfactant-mediated suppression of bacteria) rather than involving a biological receptor or protein target.
