Overview

Trinbelimab is a recombinant human IgG monoclonal antibody developed by Bharat Serums and Vaccines Limited (BSV) for the prevention of Rh isoimmunization. It is the world's first marketed recombinant anti-D immunoglobulin, produced using Chinese Hamster Ovary (CHO) cell line technology. The drug targets the RhD antigen on fetal red blood cells that may enter maternal circulation during childbirth, abortion, or other sensitizing events. By binding to these RhD-positive cells, Trinbelimab prevents the Rh-negative mother's immune system from recognizing the antigen and forming antibodies, thereby preventing hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn (HDFN) in subsequent pregnancies. It was launched globally in January 2022 as a high-purity alternative to plasma-derived anti-D products and hybridoma-based monoclonal antibodies.
