Overview

Trinity multipotent stem cells (brand name Trinity) is an allograft-based biologic product developed by Blackstone Medical (now Orthofix). It consists of pre-immunodepleted mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) combined with a demineralized bone matrix (DBM) allograft carrier. The product is designed to facilitate bone void repair by providing the three essential components for bone formation: osteoconduction (the scaffold), osteoinduction (growth factors), and osteogenesis (the cells). The MSCs are processed to be immunodepleted, preventing them from stimulating local T-cell proliferation while allowing them to differentiate into osteoblasts to stimulate new bone growth. It is primarily indicated for filling bone defects following the excision of benign bone lesions in patients over 11 years old.
