Overview

Trinity Multipotential Cellular Bone Matrix is a cellular bone allograft designed to provide the three essential components for bone formation: osteogenesis, osteoconduction, and osteoinduction. It consists of a scaffold of demineralized cortical bone and cancellous bone matrix containing viable adult mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and osteoprogenitor cells. Developed by Blackstone Medical (later acquired by Orthofix) and processed by the Musculoskeletal Transplant Foundation (MTF), it is used as a bone graft substitute in procedures such as spinal fusion (including anterior cervical discectomy and fusion and posterolateral lumbar fusion) and foot/ankle arthrodesis. The product aims to mimic the properties of autograft bone without the morbidity associated with harvesting bone from the patient. It was later succeeded by Trinity Evolution, which utilizes cryopreservation to maintain cell viability.
