Triomar is a concentrated marine omega-3 fatty acid supplement consisting of fish oil triglycerides enriched with eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). It typically contains a 60% concentration of omega-3 fatty acids, often standardized to a specific EPA to DHA ratio of approximately 3:2. Triomar is utilized for its anti-inflammatory and lipid-lowering properties and has been evaluated in various clinical settings, including as a potential immunomodulatory therapy for relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS) and for the management of cardiovascular health and hypertriglyceridemia. Its mechanism involves the modulation of lipid mediators, activation of nuclear receptors such as PPAR-alpha, and competitive inhibition of arachidonic acid metabolism to reduce the production of pro-inflammatory eicosanoids and cytokines.
