Triptoquinone A is a diterpene quinone isolated from the medicinal plant *Tripterygium wilfordii* (Thunder God Vine). It is a key bioactive constituent of *Tripterygium wilfordii* polyglycoside tablets (TGTs), which are used in traditional Chinese medicine for the treatment of autoimmune and inflammatory conditions. Triptoquinone A exhibits significant anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, primarily by inhibiting the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as interleukin-1 (IL-1) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α). Recent research has highlighted its potential therapeutic role in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), particularly in addressing SLE-associated bone and joint complications. Its mechanism of action involves the regulation of the NLRC3 (NLR family CARD domain containing 3) axis; specifically, it has been shown to diminish NLRC3 expression in chondrocytes, which leads to a reduction in pro-inflammatory cytokine levels and the expression of cartilage-degrading enzymes.
