Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Triptorelin acetate is a synthetic decapeptide agonist of the gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) receptor. Developed by Joincare Pharmaceutical Group, this specific formulation utilizes sustained-release microsphere technology to provide a long-acting depot injection. Upon administration, triptorelin initially stimulates the pituitary GnRH receptors, leading to a transient rise in luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). However, continuous exposure results in the downregulation and desensitization of these receptors, effectively suppressing the production of sex hormones (testosterone in men and estrogen in women). This hormonal suppression is therapeutically beneficial for treating hormone-dependent conditions such as advanced prostate cancer and endometriosis.
