Triptorelin acetate + hCG is a combination regimen used primarily as a "dual trigger" for final oocyte maturation in assisted reproductive technology (ART) cycles, such as in vitro fertilization (IVF). Triptorelin acetate is a synthetic gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonist that initially stimulates the pituitary to release luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), but with continued use suppresses their secretion. Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) acts as an LH analog, directly stimulating final oocyte maturation and ovulation. The dual trigger approach aims to optimize oocyte quality and reduce the risk of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS), especially in high ovarian responders undergoing GnRH antagonist protocols[1][2]. This combination does not negatively impact embryo quality or pregnancy rates compared to hCG alone, but significantly lowers the incidence of OHSS[2].
