Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Triptorelin acetate microspheres is a sustained-release injectable formulation of triptorelin, a synthetic decapeptide analogue of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH). Developed by Joincare Pharmaceutical Group, the drug utilizes biodegradable microsphere technology to provide prolonged therapeutic levels of the active ingredient following intramuscular injection. As a GnRH agonist, triptorelin initially stimulates the pituitary gland but subsequently causes down-regulation and desensitization of GnRH receptors. This leads to a profound suppression of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) secretion, resulting in a hypoestrogenic state in women. This mechanism effectively suppresses ovarian function, reduces the growth of ectopic endometrial tissue, and alleviates the chronic pelvic pain associated with endometriosis. The formulation is also approved for the treatment of prostate cancer, where it suppresses testosterone production.
