Overview

Trisacryl gelatin microspheres are precisely calibrated, spherical, nonresorbable embolic particles composed of a trisacryl polymer core cross-linked with gelatin. They are hydrophilic, compressible, and designed for use in therapeutic embolization procedures. Upon administration via catheter into the vascular system, these microspheres occlude blood vessels by physically blocking blood flow to targeted tissues such as tumors or arteriovenous malformations (AVMs). Their uniform size allows for controlled and predictable embolization outcomes. Trisacryl gelatin microspheres can also serve as drug delivery vehicles when loaded with therapeutic agents for localized treatment during embolization[1][4][6]. Primary indications include preoperative devascularization of highly vascularized tumors and the treatment of AVMs in various anatomical locations including the uterus (e.g., uterine fibroid embolization), head, neck, spine, and other sites[1][2][5].
