Overview

Trisequens is a sequential combined hormone replacement therapy (HRT) formulated for postmenopausal women who still have their uterus. It contains two active ingredients: estradiol (a natural estrogen identical to that produced in the ovaries) and norethisterone acetate (a synthetic progestogen). The regimen provides continuous estrogen with progestogen added for 10 days of each 28-day cycle, mimicking the natural menstrual cycle. Estradiol relieves symptoms of estrogen deficiency such as hot flushes, night sweats, and vaginal dryness, while norethisterone acetate protects the endometrial lining from overstimulation by unopposed estrogen. Trisequens is primarily indicated for relief of menopausal symptoms and prevention of osteoporosis in women at increased risk who cannot use other therapies[1][2][3][4][5].
