Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Trivaid is a trivalent live attenuated vaccine developed by Pharm Aid in collaboration with the Serum Institute of India. It is designed for the active immunization of children and adults against measles, mumps, and rubella. The vaccine is a lyophilized preparation containing the Edmonston-Zagreb strain of the measles virus, the Leningrad-Zagreb strain of the mumps virus, and the Wistar RA 27/3 strain of the rubella virus. These attenuated strains are grown in human diploid cells (MRC-5) or chick embryo fibroblast cells, depending on the component. Trivaid is intended to induce a robust immune response, including both humoral (antibody-mediated) and cellular immunity, mimicking a natural infection without causing the clinical disease. In the Russian market, it is often supplied in a pre-filled syringe (PFS) format for ease of administration.
