Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Trivalent oral poliovirus vaccine Bio Farma** is a live-attenuated oral poliomyelitis vaccine developed and manufactured by Bio Farma for active immunization against poliovirus types 1, 2, and 3. It contains attenuated Sabin-strain polioviruses and induces serotype-specific mucosal and systemic immune responses, including neutralizing antibodies, to prevent poliomyelitis. A Bio Farma-sponsored Phase II randomized, double-blind study evaluated immunogenicity and safety across pilot and commercial vaccine batches in Indonesian infants. Trivalent OPV was withdrawn from routine use globally during the April 2016 OPV switch and replaced by bivalent OPV plus inactivated poliovirus vaccine strategies after eradication of wild poliovirus type 2.
