Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Trizone is a brand of ceftriaxone sodium, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic marketed by Nutramedica. As a small molecule antibiotic, it exerts its bactericidal effect by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), thereby inhibiting the final transpeptidation step of peptidoglycan synthesis in bacterial cell walls. This action leads to cell wall lysis and bacterial death. Trizone is a broad-spectrum agent with activity against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative pathogens. It is indicated for the treatment of serious infections, including meningitis, septicemia, pneumonia, urinary tract infections, and intra-abdominal infections, and is administered via intravenous or intramuscular injection.
