Drug intelligence / Profile preview
TRK-130 is an orally administered small molecule antagonist of the Transient Receptor Potential Melastatin 8 (TRPM8) channel, currently under development by Toray Industries for the treatment of overactive bladder (OAB). TRPM8 is a cold-sensing cation channel found on afferent nerve fibers in the bladder wall; its activation is thought to contribute to the sensory urgency and detrusor overactivity characteristic of OAB. By blocking these channels, TRK-130 aims to reduce the hypersensitivity of the bladder and improve symptoms such as urinary frequency and urgency. The drug is currently being evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials in Japan.
