TRK-700

TRK-700 is an orally active small molecule P2X3 receptor antagonist developed by Toray Industries. It was primarily investigated for the treatment of neuropathic pain, specifically post-herpetic neuralgia (PHN). P2X3 receptors are ATP-gated ion channels found on peripheral sensory neurons that mediate nociceptive signaling; their inhibition is a targeted approach to reducing chronic pain and hypersensitivity. TRK-700 reached Phase 2 clinical development, including studies evaluating its efficacy in PHN patients and its potential for drug-drug interactions with substrates like digoxin and midazolam. However, the candidate is no longer featured in Toray's active development pipeline, suggesting that its clinical development has been halted.
