Overview

Trocflu is a topical antifungal cream marketed by Ardent Life Sciences for the treatment of various cutaneous fungal infections. It contains azole antifungal agents, specifically fluconazole and ketoconazole, which exert their effect by inhibiting the fungal enzyme lanosterol 14-alpha-demethylase (also known as CYP51). This enzyme is critical for the conversion of lanosterol to ergosterol, a vital component of the fungal cell membrane. The resulting depletion of ergosterol and accumulation of methylated sterol precursors disrupt membrane integrity and function, leading to fungistatic or fungicidal activity against a broad range of dermatophytes and yeasts.
