Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Troclosene (also known as dichloroisocyanuric acid or sodium troclosene in its salt form) is a chlorinated hydroxytriazine compound used primarily as a disinfectant and biocide. It acts as an organic chlorine donor that releases hypochlorous acid upon dissolution in water. This mechanism provides effective disinfection by oxidizing and destroying bacteria, bacterial spores, cysts, algae, fungi, protozoa, and viruses. Troclosene is widely used for sterilizing drinking water and swimming pools and serves as an industrial deodorant and cleaning agent. Its slow-release of chlorine makes it more stable than traditional hypochlorites like bleach[1][2][5][8].
