Trolamine polypeptide oleate condensate is a protein-based cerumenolytic agent that was marketed under the brand name Cerumenex for the removal of impacted earwax (cerumen). Formulated as a 10% otic solution, it functions as a surfactant that emulsifies and disperses earwax by lysing its components, thereby facilitating removal through water irrigation. The drug was initially developed by PRA Health Sciences and manufactured by The Purdue Frederick Company. It has since been withdrawn from the market, primarily due to concerns regarding potential ototoxicity in patients with a perforated tympanic membrane.
