Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Trophalgon (also marketed as Trofalgon) is an oral fixed-dose combination of cyanocobalamin (vitamin B12) and lysozyme hydrochloride. Originally developed by Madariaga and currently marketed by Grupo Farmasierra, it is approved in Spain as a non-prescription medicine. Trophalgon is indicated for the treatment of vitamin B12 deficiency resulting from increased nutritional requirements, dietary insufficiency, or malabsorption, as well as for recovery during convalescence. Cyanocobalamin serves as an essential cofactor for enzymes involved in DNA synthesis, hematopoiesis, and myelin maintenance, while lysozyme hydrochloride is an antimicrobial enzyme that hydrolyzes peptidoglycans in bacterial cell walls, providing protective effects against infections and supporting immune defense.
