Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Trophygel is a nutraceutical supplement developed by Ghimas S.p.A., specifically formulated to support the structural integrity and repair of connective tissues, including joints, cartilage, and skin. The product contains a combination of hydrolyzed collagen, hyaluronic acid, and ascorbic acid (Vitamin C). Hydrolyzed collagen provides bioactive peptides that serve as substrates and signaling molecules to stimulate endogenous collagen synthesis by chondrocytes and fibroblasts. Hyaluronic acid, a major component of the extracellular matrix and synovial fluid, contributes to joint lubrication and viscoelasticity. Ascorbic acid acts as an essential cofactor for the enzyme prolyl 4-hydroxylase, which is required for the post-translational hydroxylation of proline residues, a critical step in the stabilization of the collagen triple helix. Trophygel is marketed for the maintenance of musculoskeletal health and the management of joint degenerative conditions.
