Overview

Tropilera-P is a fixed-dose combination ophthalmic solution containing tropicamide and phenylephrine hydrochloride, marketed by SCLERA Health Care. Tropicamide is a synthetic antimuscarinic agent that induces mydriasis (pupil dilation) and cycloplegia (paralysis of the ciliary muscle) by blocking the responses of the sphincter muscle of the iris and the ciliary muscle to cholinergic stimulation. Phenylephrine is a sympathomimetic agent that acts as an alpha-1 adrenergic receptor agonist, causing contraction of the iris dilator muscle to further enhance pupil dilation. This combination is primarily used in clinical settings to facilitate fundus examination, refraction, and certain surgical procedures requiring a dilated pupil.
