Disurinorm is a branded generic version of **trospium chloride**, a quaternary ammonium compound that acts as a non-selective muscarinic receptor antagonist. Developed and marketed by Grand Medical Group, it is primarily indicated for the treatment of overactive bladder (OAB) and associated symptoms such as urinary frequency, urgency, and urge incontinence. As a quaternary ammonium derivative, trospium chloride is highly hydrophilic and does not readily cross the blood-brain barrier, which typically results in a lower incidence of central nervous system side effects (such as cognitive impairment or somnolence) compared to tertiary amine anticholinergics like oxybutynin. It works by competitively inhibiting the action of acetylcholine at muscarinic receptors on the detrusor muscle of the bladder, thereby reducing bladder contractions and increasing bladder capacity.
