Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ALKS 27 is an inhaled formulation of trospium chloride developed for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Trospium chloride is a muscarinic receptor antagonist that works by relaxing smooth muscle tissue in the airways, thereby improving airflow and lung function. The drug was designed using Alkermes' proprietary AIR pulmonary delivery technology to provide rapid onset and prolonged bronchodilation with once-daily administration. Clinical studies demonstrated significant improvements in lung function compared to placebo and a favorable safety profile over a wide dose range[1][2][3][4][5].
