TroVax + standard of care therapy

TroVax + standard of care therapy refers to the combination of the therapeutic cancer vaccine TroVax (MVA-5T4) with first-line standard of care (SOC) treatments for renal cell carcinoma. TroVax, developed by Oxford BioMedica, utilizes a modified vaccinia virus Ankara (MVA) vector to deliver the 5T4 tumor-associated antigen, which is frequently expressed in clear cell renal cell carcinoma and associated with poor prognosis. In the Phase 3 TRIST trial, TroVax was administered alongside SOC agents, which included the multi-kinase inhibitor sunitinib or the cytokines interleukin-2 (IL-2) and interferon-alpha (IFN-α). The regimen aimed to stimulate a 5T4-specific immune response to complement the anti-angiogenic or immunomodulatory effects of the SOC. However, the trial was terminated after an interim analysis indicated that the addition of TroVax did not significantly improve overall survival compared to SOC alone.
