Drug intelligence / Profile preview
TRP-8803 is a proprietary intravenous (IV) formulation of psilocin, developed to address the limitations of oral psilocybin therapy. Psilocin is the active metabolite of psilocybin and acts as a serotonergic psychedelic, primarily through agonism at serotonin receptors. The IV delivery method enables rapid onset (under 20 minutes), precise control over blood levels and duration of the psychedelic state, and allows for immediate cessation if adverse events occur—features not possible with oral dosing. This approach aims to maximize neuroplastic benefits while improving safety and commercial feasibility. TRP-8803 is being developed by Tryptamine Therapeutics as a treatment for neuropsychiatric disorders such as obesity, binge eating disorder, fibromyalgia, and potentially irritable bowel syndrome-related abdominal pain[1][2][4][5][6][7].
