TRP2 LNP is an mRNA-based cancer vaccine candidate consisting of messenger RNA encoding the Tyrosinase-related protein 2 (TRP-2) antigen encapsulated within lipid nanoparticles (LNPs). TRP-2 is a melanocyte-specific enzyme and a well-known tumor-associated antigen frequently overexpressed in melanoma. The LNP delivery system protects the mRNA from degradation and facilitates its entry into cells, particularly antigen-presenting cells (APCs) such as dendritic cells. Once inside the cell, the mRNA is translated into TRP-2 protein, which is then processed and presented on the cell surface to activate TRP-2-specific CD4+ and CD8+ T-cell immune responses. In preclinical research, TRP2 LNP has demonstrated the ability to suppress tumor growth and improve survival in melanoma models, often serving as a baseline for evaluating targeted delivery platforms like DKure (antibody-conjugated mRNA-LNPs).
