Drug intelligence / Profile preview
TRX-920 is an oral formulation of SN-38, the active metabolite of irinotecan (CPT-11), developed by TaiRx for the treatment of cancer, particularly advanced solid tumors. Unlike irinotecan, which requires metabolic activation in the body to produce SN-38, TRX-920 delivers SN-38 directly via an oral gel formulation. This approach aims to improve anti-tumor efficacy and reduce side effects compared to conventional irinotecan therapy. The drug acts as a DNA topoisomerase I inhibitor—disrupting DNA replication and transcription in cancer cells—and is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials for patients with advanced solid tumors[1][2][4][7].
