Overview

TRX-NOC is a monoclonal antibody developed by TaiRx that targets Nodal, a secreted protein and member of the TGF-β superfamily. Nodal is typically expressed during embryonic development but is re-expressed in aggressive, late-stage cancers where it acts as a key driver of cancer stem cell phenotypes, tumor progression, and resistance to conventional therapies. TRX-NOC works by binding to Nodal and blocking its interaction with its cognate receptors, thereby inhibiting the Nodal signaling pathway. The intellectual property for this approach was licensed from Northwestern University and Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, based on research by Dr. Mary J.C. Hendrix. TaiRx is developing the antibody through a joint venture called TaiRx US for the treatment of various aggressive malignancies, including melanoma, breast cancer, pancreatic cancer, and liver cancer.
