Overview

TSB-9-W1 (also known by the trade name IDS) is a botanical drug extract derived from the resin of *Garcinia hanburyi* (gamboge). Developed by Taiwan Sunpan Biotechnology, the extract is standardized to contain active xanthones, most notably gambogic acid and neogambogic acid. These compounds exert potent antineoplastic effects by inducing apoptosis and inhibiting tumor growth through multiple mechanisms, including the inhibition of the 26S proteasome, antagonism of anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 family proteins, and binding to the transferrin receptor (TfR1). TSB-9-W1 has been evaluated in Phase I clinical trials as an oral therapy for patients with pre-treated metastatic colorectal cancer.
