Drug intelligence / Profile preview
TSME-1 (Trypsin Cleavage Site Mutated Exendin4-cysteine 1) is an orally bioavailable, trypsin-resistant analog of exendin-4, a glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist. It was designed to overcome the limitations of subcutaneous injection for exendin-4 related drugs and improve patient compliance. TSME-1 has demonstrated similar bioactivity to exendin-4 and significantly normalized blood glucose levels in C57BL/6J mice, showing higher availability compared to exendin-4 and exendin4-cysteine. It is being developed as a strong candidate for the future treatment of type 2 diabetes.
