Overview

TTAX02 is an investigational **human birth tissue-derived biologic** being developed by TissueTech for **in-utero fetal repair of spina bifida**. The product consists of **cryopreserved human umbilical cord tissue** and is applied surgically as a **patch graft** during prenatal repair, either as a single patch covering the neural placode or as a dual-patch construct used to close both skin and meningeal defects. Its therapeutic rationale is primarily **structural and regenerative rather than receptor-targeted pharmacology**: by providing a biologically active human tissue covering at the time of fetal surgery, TTAX02 is intended to protect exposed neural tissue, support tissue healing and reconstruction, and improve clinically meaningful neurologic outcomes after birth. The product has received **Regenerative Medicine Advanced Therapy designation** from the FDA, and TissueTech has indicated plans for Phase 3 development in spina bifida.
