Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tubeimoside B (also known as tubeimoside II) is a natural oleanane-type triterpenoid saponin isolated from the tuber of *Bolbostemma paniculatum* (a Chinese folk medicine called 'Tubeimu'). It is a small-molecule research compound exhibiting anti-inflammatory, antitumor, anti-fibrotic, and broad-spectrum antiviral activities. Tubeimoside B acts as an inhibitor of procollagen galactosyltransferase 1 (COLGALT1/GLT25D1), which blocks collagen beta(1-O) galactosylation and promotes collagen endoplasmic reticulum (ER) retention in hepatic stellate cells, triggering PERK-eIF2α-ATF4-mediated ER stress and apoptosis to attenuate hepatic fibrosis progression. Additionally, it acts as a ligand of interferon-inducible double-stranded RNA-dependent protein kinase activator A (PRKRA/PACT), activating the RIG-I signaling pathway and increasing type I interferon (IFN-β) secretion to exert broad-spectrum antiviral effects against respiratory viruses such as SARS-CoV-2 and influenza A. It is widely used as a reference substance or research reagent and is not currently developed as an approved drug by any pharmaceutical company.
