Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The tuberculosis vaccine being developed by Vaxine Pty Ltd is a subunit vaccine candidate that utilizes the company's proprietary Advax adjuvant technology. Advax is a unique adjuvant derived from delta-inulin, which is designed to enhance both cellular (Th1 and Th17) and humoral immune responses without the high levels of inflammation often associated with other adjuvants. In preclinical studies, Advax-adjuvanted recombinant protein vaccines containing Mycobacterium tuberculosis antigens have demonstrated the ability to induce protective immunity and reduce bacterial load. This vaccine is intended to serve as either a primary immunization or a booster to the existing Bacille Calmette-Guérin (BCG) vaccine to provide more durable and effective protection against pulmonary tuberculosis.
