TUG1 ASO is an antisense oligonucleotide (ASO) therapeutic being developed by NANO mRNA for the treatment of glioblastoma multiforme (GBM). The drug targets taurine upregulated gene 1 (TUG1), a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) that is significantly upregulated in GBM and plays a critical role in tumor cell proliferation, survival, and resistance to standard therapies like temozolomide. By binding to the TUG1 transcript, the ASO triggers its degradation, thereby suppressing the oncogenic activity of the lncRNA. TUG1 ASO is currently in Phase 1 clinical development, representing a novel approach to treating aggressive brain tumors by modulating non-coding RNA expression.
