Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tulsi chai extract (TC) is an aqueous extract of *Ocimum sanctum* (Krishna Tulsi) leaves. It is being investigated for its potential protective and regenerative effects in chronic kidney disease (CKD). In preclinical models of renal epithelial wound repair, the extract has demonstrated the ability to protect proximal tubular cells from reactive oxygen species (ROS) and calcium phosphate (CaP) crystal-induced oxidative damage. It promotes cell survival, reduces apoptosis and necrosis, and accelerates wound healing by mitigating ROS-induced phosphorylation of p38 MAPK (pP38).
