Tumor specific antigen-loaded dendritic cells are a personalized cancer immunotherapy that utilizes autologous dendritic cells (DCs) loaded with tumor antigens to stimulate an immune response against cancer. This approach involves collecting a patient's own dendritic cells, loading them with tumor-specific antigens (either from tumor lysates, synthetic peptides, tumor-derived mRNA, or other sources), and then reinfusing them into the patient. The loaded DCs present these antigens to T cells, activating them to recognize and attack cancer cells expressing the same antigens. This therapy aims to enhance the body's natural immune response against cancer by improving T-cell priming and generating new or enhanced immune responses.
