Overview
Tuoli Tounong Decoction is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal formula historically used to treat chronic, non-healing sores, carbuncles, and abscesses. The formula is designed to "support the interior" (Tuoli) by tonifying Qi and Blood, and to "promote pus discharge" (Tounong) by facilitating the expulsion of toxins and the regeneration of tissue. In modern clinical research, it is being investigated by the Third Affiliated Hospital of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine for its efficacy in treating wounds associated with plasma cell mastitis. The decoction typically contains a combination of herbs such as *Astragalus membranaceus* (Huangqi), *Angelica sinensis* (Danggui), *Ligusticum chuanxiong* (Chuanxiong), and *Gleditsia sinensis* (Zaojiaoci), which are thought to modulate the inflammatory microenvironment and promote angiogenesis at the wound site.
