Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tuoming Tiaoqiao is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) hospital preparation developed by the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang Chinese Medicine University (Zhejiang Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine) for the treatment of allergic rhinitis. Formulated as granules, it is based on classical TCM principles of opening the nasal orifices and tonifying the qi to address the underlying immune dysregulation associated with allergies. The preparation typically contains a blend of herbal ingredients such as *Xanthium sibiricum*, *Magnolia biondii*, and *Astragalus membranaceus*. Mechanistically, Tuoming Tiaoqiao works by restoring the Th1/Th2 cytokine balance, suppressing the production of inflammatory mediators like IL-4 and IL-13, and lowering serum IgE levels, thereby alleviating symptoms such as sneezing, rhinorrhea, and nasal congestion.
