Overview
Turbinaria decurrens extract (TDE) is a research-stage botanical product derived from the brown macroalgae *Turbinaria decurrens Bory*. It contains bioactive compounds such as the carotenoid fucoxanthin and the sulfated polysaccharide fucoidan. Research, primarily conducted by academic institutions like Universitas Indonesia, has demonstrated its potential antiproliferative and apoptotic effects against various cancer cell lines, including HeLa (cervical cancer) and HCT-116 (colon cancer). Additionally, the extract exhibits antioxidant, anticoagulant, and anti-HIV activities. It is currently in the preclinical/research stage and has not undergone formal clinical development or regulatory approval.
