Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Turongbushenfang is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula developed by the Gansu Provincial Hospital of TCM for the treatment of polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), particularly in patients presenting with kidney deficiency and phlegm-dampness patterns. The formula aims to tonify the kidney, resolve phlegm, and remove dampness to restore regular ovulation and hormonal balance. Clinical and experimental studies suggest that it works by regulating the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian (HPO) axis, reducing serum levels of luteinizing hormone (LH) and testosterone, and improving insulin sensitivity. It is typically administered as an oral decoction and contains a combination of herbs including *Cistanche deserticola* and *Cuscuta chinensis*.
