Tussavit

Tussavit is a herbal cough syrup developed by Pharmazeutische Fabrik Montavit Ges.m.b.H. It is composed of fluid extracts from thyme herb (Thymus vulgaris) and ribwort plantain (Plantago lanceolata). The product is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of coughs associated with inflammatory respiratory tract diseases, such as acute and chronic bronchitis, the common cold, and respiratory infections, as well as a supportive treatment for whooping cough. Its multi-modal mechanism of action involves the expectorant properties of thyme's essential oils (specifically thymol and carvacrol), which stimulate bronchial secretion and mucociliary clearance, and the soothing, protective effects of plantain's mucilaginous substances on the bronchial mucosa.
