Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tussilene is a brand name used by Laboratórios Azevedos for a family of non-prescription (over-the-counter) cough and cold medications marketed primarily in Portugal. The product line consists of several monotherapies designed to address different types of cough and respiratory symptoms. These include Acetilcisteína Tussilene (acetylcysteine), which serves as a mucolytic to fluidize thick mucus in productive coughs; Ambroxol Tussilene (ambroxol), which acts as a secretolytic and expectorant to facilitate mucus clearance; and Dextrometorfano Tussilene (dextromethorphan), a non-opioid antitussive that acts on the central nervous system to suppress dry, irritating, non-productive coughs. The products are available in oral formulations such as syrups, oral solutions, and effervescent tablets.
