Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a preclinical-stage herpesvirus-based viral-vector vaccine being developed by The Vaccine Group (TVG) to prevent Bovine Respiratory Syncytial Virus (BRSV) disease in calves. The vaccine utilizes a herpesvirus-based viral vector to express BRSV antigens, specifically designed to induce protective immune responses in young calves. A critical feature of this platform is its ability to remain effective in the presence of maternally-derived antibodies (MDA), which typically interfere with the efficacy of conventional vaccines in neonates. Preclinical studies have demonstrated both immunogenicity and efficacy in MDA-positive calves. The development of this lead program is supported by Innovate UK and targets a major cause of respiratory disease in the cattle industry.
