Drug intelligence / Profile preview
TVG's canine leishmaniasis vaccine is an experimental veterinary vaccine candidate developed by The Vaccine Group (TVG). It utilizes a proprietary herpesvirus-based viral vector platform designed to deliver and express specific *Leishmania* antigens within the host. This approach aims to stimulate a robust and protective cell-mediated immune response, which is essential for controlling the intracellular protozoan parasite *Leishmania infantum*, the primary cause of canine leishmaniasis. By leveraging the immunogenic properties of the herpesvirus vector, the vaccine is intended to provide long-lasting immunity against this serious zoonotic disease. The program is currently in the preclinical stage of development.
