TVGV-HBV (also known as TVG-HBV) is a therapeutic DNA vaccine candidate developed by T-Vax, Inc. for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. The vaccine is designed to break the immune tolerance observed in chronic HBV patients by stimulating a multi-specific T-cell response against several viral proteins. It consists of a DNA plasmid vector encoding the HBV core antigen (HBcAg), surface antigen (HBsAg), and the viral polymerase. By delivering these antigens directly to host cells, TVGV-HBV aims to induce both CD4+ helper and CD8+ cytotoxic T-cell activities, potentially leading to the clearance of HBV-infected hepatocytes and achieving a functional cure. The vaccine has been evaluated in early-stage clinical trials to assess its safety and immunogenicity.
